What leads to hair loss?
Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors. More often than not, it is caused by something simple—genetics.
Hereditary hair loss, also known as androgenic alopecia, is caused by something you have little to no control over: your genes. If your father or grandfather experienced balding or thinning hair, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with the exact same thing.
Conditions that can lead to hair loss include:
- Hair disorders such as androgenic (hereditary) alopecia, alopecia areata (autoimmune disease), or cicatricial alopecia (scarring hair loss)
- Stress-related hair loss conditions such as telogen effluvium (where hair follicles do not produce any new strands of hair) or trichotillomania (or literally “pulling your hair out”)
- Certain hormonal changes, medical conditions, treatments, and supplements
While you will naturally lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs in a given day, it’s only when your hair doesn’t grow back is an indication that there might be a problem.
It is recommended to make any appointment if you see any of the following signs:
- Hairline changing/receding
- Thinning of hair on the scalp
- Balding that leaves the crown of the head exposed
- Sudden loss of a patch of hair
- Loss of hair on the body
How hair restoration treatment works
To help treat your hair loss, we utilize a special, 100% natural therapy that takes advantage of the body’s ability to regenerate itself. This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.
The process is as follows:
- Your blood is drawn (just like getting blood drawn for labs)
- The blood is then spun in a centrifuge where the plasma separates from the red blood cells
- The serum is injected into the areas of hair loss using microneedles (for comfort), stimulating your body’s regenerative process to produce growth of new, healthy hair
This regenerative process takes some time, but some improvement can generally be seen in the first few weeks. Maximum results may take 4-6 months. Most patients will require several treatments to achieve optimal results. Patient specific maintenance will ensure these results remain.
What you can expect after your hair restoration treatment
Depending on the severity of your hair loss, you will need multiple treatments (often 4) spaced-out weeks apart for efficacy. Note, your hair has to grow back, so it will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months before measurable results are seen. Maintenance treatments will be needed roughly 12 to 24 months as treatment results are not permanent due to genetics.
Due to the serum being drawn directly from your blood, there is no allergic reaction. However, some minor swelling, bruising, and tenderness may occur at the injection site, a risk that comes with almost every treatment that is administered by injection.
